Be An Encourager

God has raised me up to be an encourager. I Thessalonians 5:14 tells us that we all should encourage other Believers....those who have had the spiritual wind knocked out through adversity.  Jesus even predicted that the world would hate us Christ-followers. This has happened to many of us - maybe to you as it has to me, for though we are in the world, we are not OF the world.  Life can be difficult, and at times we can become discouraged. Some get to the point where they even want to give up. Yet He who calls us also sustains us. He is faithful, and He gives us the ability to be faithful, too (1 Corinthians 1:8-9)..."Who will sustain you to the end, guiltless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.  God is faithful, by whom you were called into the fellowship of His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord."

Then we go through "stuff" we need other Believers to stand with us - not just in empathy - but in FAITH. God will bring you through whatever you are experiencing - and you WILL have the victory, for it is not how clever we are. It is not a person's bubbly personality. It is God's Word that we speak that encourages. 

Before David became King, in the Book of 1 Samuel Chapter 30 we find that he became discouraged and dismayed because he lost a battle and his family and the families of all his men were captured, all their belongings were stolen, and their homes were burned. It got to the point where his men wanted to kill him. But David was a man of faith. He knew his God.  And we read in 2 Samuel 30:1:  "David was very upset, for the men were thinking of stoning him; each man grieved bitterly over his sons and daughters. But David drew strength from the LORD his God." 

What did he do? When there was no one else to encourage him, he encouraged himself!  We need that today. Maybe no one else is coming to your rescue, you seemingly have little hope.  But when you know God, you have the power to encourage yourself in Him in the power of the Holy Spirit. 

So, look around you. Find someone who needs encouragement.   If it is yourself, become encouraged in the Lord first, then lift up others. Pray for them. Speak the Word over them. Share with them that we have the victory IN Christ. We must encourage one another to persevere in our faith.  We do this through our actions toward one another, through our professions, and continually upholding others in prayer. The Lord has called us to this ministry. We are paracletes called alongside of others to lift them up and support them in Christian love.  And when we see another Believe stumble, we should be quick to forgive and restore - considering ourselves and how the Lord has forgiven us.

Hebrews 10:24, 25 tell us  "And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another-----  and all the more as you see the Day approaching."

Do you see the Day approaching?  I know I do. We are closer now than ever to His appearing. All the more reason to meet together in prayer, in praise, in worship, and to encourage others; for we need each other!

Five Words That Can Change Your Destiny

VISION

In Joshua’s day, the Israelites needed to know that their leaders had a vision. What was true then is still true today! As the Bible says, “For without a vision, the people perish.”

Moses had just left the scene, and the setting demonstrated the need for Joshua to have a fresh vision from the Lord. He reviewed the track record of God's faithful provision for (and protection of) His people, the Israelites. He sought God, and received directly from the Lord the confidence that the Lord was with him just as He was with Moses. He then challenged the people to believe in God because of God’s track record. No purposeful destiny can be achieved without an underlying vision of God’s plan, a goal and purpose that can be comprehended, and a promise in which one can trust. Without such a vision, the people will perish.

DESIRE

Joshua confronted the people with the issue of desire. His words were, "if serving the LORD seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve." Without the desire to serve a faithful God, the wrong choice will be made every time. Has God implanted within you a desire to make a wise choice? Each of us has to have desire before we can make that choice.

CHOICE

"Choose for yourselves this day!" Joshua commanded. He knew, and all of us must realize, that choices make the critical difference as to our destiny. Making a choice is like buying an airline ticket for a desired destination. You purchase your ticket based upon a having made the choice ahead of time of your specific destination. Few would want to board a plane if the pilot had not chosen to head that plane with its load of passengers toward the specific agreed-upon destination.

COMMITMENT

When Joshua confronted the Israelites, he suggested that they had to make a choice: "Choose for yourselves today whom you will serve." He required that they each commit to following through on their decision. Joshua reiterated to the people his own choice for himself and his family and that was to serve the Lord, to hear and obey His voice and to commit to follow wherever the Lord led them. He sought all Israel to get on board with God’s plan. The same goes for us today. Are we willing to make that commitment? Once we choose, we must diligently stay on the path, stay on the road of obedience and commit to stay in fellowship with the Lord.

FOLLOW-THROUGH

Joshua's challenge to the Israelites emphasized serving as much as it did choosing. Without the serving, choosing is an empty eggshell; there is nothing to produce life. Each one was to be involved, to do his part, and then to follow-through for the good of the whole group.

Five words of destiny! The difference between a homeless man on the street and an executive with a six-figure income is in these five words: vision, desire, choice, commitment, and follow-through.

What vision has stimulated your desire, that now brings you to the point of choosing and committing to your destiny? Finally, are you following-through to do your part?

Jesus is Faithful

I don't understand everything about life, about aging, accidents, pain, loneliness, about losses and prayers that seem to go unanswered;  but I am confident in our Lord Jesus Christ's love, mercy, grace, and power to be all we need for each day. I rely and fully trust Him even when things don't seem to turn out well for the moment. 

Jesus walked the same paths in His life on earth, experienced the same temptations we all face, and He overcame in each situation. And since we are in a personal and loving relationship with Him, and since He paid the price, and we choose to continue to believe that ALL things are possible with Him -- we overcome too!  We are victorious in this life. He cares for us all. He meets ALL of our needs!  He is faithful - especially today! So we fight the good fight of faith and receive perfect peace every moment.

God is soooo good!

It is Thanksgiving time; and I personally give thanks to the Lord every day. We all should. But this is the special time of year when we reflect upon the goodness of the Lord and all the many blessing we have and the lives and things He has entrusted to our care.

It's also a time to get together with our loving family and friends. And with the miles that separate us for most of the year, it takes an effort to maintain these close ties.  But in our family, it has been so worth it - to travel each year for joy-filled reunions and to celebrate the milestones, the accomplishments, and this year the miraculous births of our preemie twin grandsons William and Jackson.

We are so incredibly blessed.  When we look into the eyes of these little ones who are thriving and doing so well, we know that God has great and awesome plans - a bright hope and a future for us all.  We who are born again have eternal life - and the life we live in this world is so brief in comparison with eternity we have to look forward to - being with our Savior and Lord forever!

So we thank Him today, tomorrow, on Thanksgiving... and forever. We place a hedge of protection around our lives, and say "Thank you, Lord."

Right now, we see through a glass - as the Bible says - "darkly" or "dimly."  Sometimes the view of the future isn't as clear or bright as we would like to see it, but we know Who holds the future, and we are in His care.

Lord Jesus, we give You all the glory.

Twin Grandsons

Kathy and I are so blessed by the Lord to have two new grandsons - preemie twins by Alyson and Justin. God has been so good to us this fall for which we praise Him. Thanks to all who have been (and continually are) praying for us. The Lord Jesus gets all the glory!

Our Spiritual Authority

My Uncle Carl Nill had a ministry called “Victory in Christ.” That is the first time I ever heard that we were to walk in Victory over the enemy. He had a radio program in the 30s (that’s the 1930s) during which he and his sisters (including my mom Bernice Nill) would sing and testify for the Lord. They were not Charismatic or Pentecostal. They were Evangelicals who believed the Bible. And over the years we learned more and more about walking by faith, living according to God’s principles and in covenant with Him and expecting Him (as King of our lives) to provide all we have need for. Today I have retained www.victoryinchrist.us to tell the story.
Well, the devil is a thief and a liar. He attempts to spoil people’s plans. He has robbed and stolen life, health, peace, joy, finances. He has brought untimely death, torment, fear, worry, anxiety, and poverty. But he is the loser, because we (as Believers) know the Lord and are applying His promises in the Word.

My brother, John, his wife Mona, and daughter Shawn were all thrown from the family’s pick-up back in the summer of 1989 as they drove along a county road taking their sheep to show at the county fair. their pick-up truck was hit broadside by a teenage driver who did not stop at an intersection. The truck rolled over my brother John and at the age of 39 he died instantly. Only his daughter Amy escaped with little injury. His wife Mona needed a hip replacement – and that hip often bothers her yet today. There was no way to bring John back to life or even say "goodbye". He had massive internal injuries and in an instant was gone. Now I know he went to heaven, but his family was robbed. We were all robbed. His employer was robbed of John’s productivity the publishing where he was the web press production manager. His witness as a community leader, as a neighbor, as a dad and as my brother were all snuffed out by our enemy, the devil.

My dad – Clarence Steiner – died at the young age of 55 (back in November of 1957 when I was just a 9 year old. He had a stroke in the summer and God healed him and gave him 5 or 6 more months. But he had a second stroke and died in the hospital. The doctors couldn’t do anything for him – back then. I was robbed of having a dad to show me the way, and I suffered for it for years. Still today I learn things they way they should be done – the normal way – the wise way – the best way. I had to try to figure it all out for myself because the devil stole my dad from me. and as a result, I have tried to pass along to my kids the values, principles, and life lessons that I learned the hard way so that they could (as it were) step off from my shoulders instead of starting nearly from scratch. And I am so proud of them for the godly lives of excellence they lead and for their spouses and families.

I have cause and am rightfully mad at the devil – that thief and robber. John 10:10 says that the devil comes to steal and to kill and to destroy, but Jesus has come to give us life and that in abundance. Our enemy has intruded into our lives where he has no right. He has tried to victimize us, but we are not controlled or enslaved by him. We have been set free. God's truth has been revealed, and we are more than conquerors through Christ Jesus who loves us and died to give us the victory!
So we take our authority in Jesus Christ over the devil. In His authority and in His Name, we cast satan down and place him under our feet. No longer will this enemy appear to have the upper hand in our lives. No longer will he put fear in us or cause us to worry or be anxious about anything. He has no authority over anyone’s life in the Steiner or Korell relations… no authority over the Moores, Halls, or Nills, or Zolgs, or Macys.….and on and on.... including all our friends and all who name the Name of Jesus as Savior and Lord. The devil is bound from destroying or stealing from us any longer! We have been freed! We walk confidently and boldly - daily - in the Lord and the power of His Word.

As Oral Roberts used to say, "Stop it, devil, that's enough! In the authority of Jesus' Name!"So we speak total healing and restoration in each of our lives in every area in which we have experienced devastation – financial healing comes, physical healing comes, restoration in every area comes now! Our family lineage is being extended by the grace of Almighty God. We speak life and health and abundance to ourselves and to our kids and their families! Thank You, Jesus! It’s all because of You! Amen

We take back what the devil has stolen - lives stolen in their prime, lives stolen even before birth. The curse is broken in Jesus' Name! Everyone in this Steiner family will all live out our entire - full lives for the glory and praise of the Lord. We proclaim abundant life -prosperity - financial fortunes restored, fear broken, faith increasing, and blessing coming in abundance! God gets all the glory in and through our lives. He is our protector, deliverer, shelter from the storms of life, our perfect peace, as we rest in Him and trust Him... for who else can we trust like we can trust Jesus? He is worthy of all our praise!

So whether you are part of our family or not, if you name the Name of Jesus as your Lord and covering, we have been redeemed from the curse. He has bought and paid for us, and this promise is for us all. Grab hold to Him and never let Him go. He promises never to leave us nor forsake us.

A New Year - A New Decade - Moving Forward

Well, the holidays have come and gone. We have put 2009 and all its troubles behind us. As the Apostle Paul urges us, we press forward to the mark of the high calling in Christ Jesus.

In this new year (new decade according to some -- while others would wait until 2011 to behin the decade) , we purpose to walk ever more closely with our Lord, hear His voice and be obedient to His voice, trust in Him to complete the work He has begun in our lives, fill us with His Holy Spirit daily, and expect Him to provide for all our needs. We want to be used of Him to be His ministers to all around us. We look for opportunities, and boldly we speak forth His Word into others' lives.

We have been so fortunate to have been abled to share the holidays with our family - all together in Denver. Thank God all of us are walking with the Lord !

Back home here in Tulsa, the realities of the national and state economic situation is hitting home. Tulsa is laying off 124 police officers, and firemen have voted to take a 5% pay cut in order to help balance the city budget. Meanwhile, we have had another major ice storm, and 3 days later 94,000 homes still have no power due to downed power lines. President Obama has declared our state a federal disaster area. 3,000 are staying in shelters.

We also all recognize the tragic and worsening situation in Haiti due to the earthquakes, and though we are grateful to see aid being delivered and survivors being rescued, the immensity of this catastrophe is just now starting to hit us. So what can we do? Pray, pray, pray. Give, send, and for some - go and help. Get involved, make a difference. We are standing in faith that the workers will be protected and that the difference they are making will bring hundreds of thousands to saving faith in Jesus Christ.

I for one am grateful for our jobs, for our health, and most of all for such great salvation that we have received. We continue to walk it out by faith each day - our hand in His, our trust in the Lord.

I have a feeling that 2010 will be a defining year to set the course for the future of our lives. New challenges being new opportunities. We expect favor, blessing, and good success. Thank You Jesus!
